Updated My iPhone : Jailbreak 2.2.1

I don’t sync my iPhone that much and when I hooked it up to itunes yesterday I was due for the new firmware 2.2.1. I realized that since my phone was already Jailbroken (is that a word) I would have to Jailbreak it again.

Other than the 1.5 hour download for the update from apple the whole process took about 15 min. The only thing I did not anticipate is that most of my applications I had to re-install. I don’t think this is entirely due to jailbreak. Because, prior to putting jailbreak back on, my applications would start then just die. Applications like twitterphone and facebook.

I am going to have to see if there is a more efficient process to upgrade with out having to remove applications and then re-add them after an upgrade.

The one great thing from this, is that my phone is now running a lot faster. I’m not sure if that is due to the new firmware.

  1. Download application named “AptBackup” from Cydia. Its made by BigBoss. It can backup & restore your applications. When u install new firmware on your phone, just download aptbackup from cydia and push “restore”, then it restores automatically all your applications from cydia.
