Vista – system restore preferences

In Windows XP you could set the amount of disk space you wanted the system restore to use.  In Vista it auto Magically tries to set it for you and does not give you an easy way to change it.  I found that they now call this shadowstorage.  To adjust this you have to use the gold old CMD prompt (DOS)  …

Vista – I am now running vista on my work Laptop

It is going ok so far.  I have had to overcome some issues with compatibility with applications and just overall performance.  I was expecting vista to be user friendly.  What I have found it is a bit difficult to find what you are looking for.  However, they have built some great technology to search for what you want.  It just happens …

Tax Time again

I do love tax time.  Not sure why, I think it is because I used to work at a accounting firm. Once again I get to choose a tax software.  I have been using TaxCut for the past 2 years and started to wonder if I should switch back to turbotax.  I migrated to TaxCut when turbotax added a piece of …

SSL Certificate Questions

I often get questions from both administrators and developers on the best way to secure their sites. By secure they are almost always talking about SSL (Secure Sockets Layer – more info). They ask which ssl provider is the best? Is it hard to setup? What does it cost? Which of the cheaper providers are the best? Should I self ssl? …

IE tools

I currently use Firefox for all my browsing needs.  I still find times where I have to use IE as the browser (I.E. 7).  Our time entry system at the office needs IE to allow for text entry.  I have also noticed that one of the online applications I use requires IE for it’s navigation.  Other than that, I am always …
